Hi all,

I’m currently using RSNav with a 3.5mm jack for audio (doesn’t work with my optical...).

I’m curious: would it work to:

1) Use a Tune2Air Bluetooth module plugged into my AMI, then have RSNav output music via Bluetooth;
2) Connect my iPhone to RSNav via either Carplay or Bluetooth so I can play music from my iPhone via RSNav via Tun2Air?

Appreciate any help!

RSNav supports playing music via bluetooth without needing a 3rd party device. https://youtu.be/K8W458Cdx7o?t=724
Note: I found that when using an iPhone it did not find my iPhone while the RSNav was already connected via the hotspot on my phone. So for the first time pairing, make sure to have your phone hotspot off. After the first time pairing they work fine simultaneously
Not associated to RSNav, just a community member helping.

Thanks. I know it will receive music by Bluetooth, but I'm talking about _outputting_ music to my car.

The problem is that my car had an older 2G MMI, and Daniel had to make a custom harness with a 3.5mm output from RSNav to a 3.5mm->AMI plug on the AMI side. Basically, RSNav->car is now analog, not optical. So I get some hissing, some engine noise, etc. Not ideal. So I'm considering an idea where I use my MMI's Bluetooth "in" (by using a Tune2Air device) to basically make RSNav->MMI be digital via Bluetooth, rather than analog via 3.5mm.

Hence my question, though - can it "receive" music via Bluetooth from my phone and then immediately "send" it to Tune2Air to the Audi stereo system? I should probably just try it, but I don't want to take apart the glovebox again if it's a definite "no". Lol.

As i know bluetooth output to another device is not possible.
There was a project to forward the sound to an amplifier via bluetooth. This was not working/supported.

i asked about that feature too. It would make the sound way better!

@Daniel: What do you think? Is there an option in further Updates or S2 to make the bt-media bidirectional or switchable?

I remember somebody created a kind of interface with 2G MMI to allow you to stream music via your phone via bluetooth to the car. It was not complicated and worked pretty well. I think it used the CD changer input.

I think it was this:

Yes, this is exactly what I’m wondering if it would work.

iPhone -> RSNAV which would then play to tune2air which would be connected optically. Avoiding the 3.5mm connection completely.
